The Laboratory of Ecology and Biology of Interactions (EBI) is a Joint Research Unit (UMR CNRS 7267) of the University of Poitiers. The unit, which is attached to the Institute of Ecology and Environment (INEE) of the CNRS, was created in 2012 and confirmed in 2018. The laboratory is constituted of three teams, named Ecology, Evolution, Symbiosis (EES), Sugars and Exchanges Plant – Environment (SEVE) and Microbiology of Water (MDE) The research axes of the members of the three teams are focused on the interactions of host species, microorganisms and environmental factors.
These themes are addressed by an integrated approach that goes from the molecule to the organism and to the ecosystems. Our models of studies are extremely diverse since they correspond to the various types of microorganisms (from the virus to the fungi through the bacteria) in interaction with different models: plants, arthropods or amoebae. The research work of the laboratory members aims to provide answers to major issues related to both global climate change, the consequences of human activities on the environment and their direct or indirect effects on health. In a more finalized approach, this research also makes it possible to develop eco-innovative technologies.
